PlantHive goes to Eisenwarenmesse 2018!

Last week, we were invited by the tech enthusiast and futurist Richard van Hooijdonk to participate to the Eisenwarenmesse 2018, which took place in the exhibition center of Koeln! This was yet another sweet opportunity to take our prototype for a ride and showcase our smart garden abroad. So I hopped into the car with our Mad Scientist, Federico, and we hit the road to Germany! The Messe in itself was very interesting; a real mecca of hardware! From screws…

More Alpha test results coming in: Testing the PlantHive in soil!

More Alpha test results coming in: Testing the PlantHive in soil!

Results of our alpha test are still coming in! Our alpha testers Olivier and Martine decided to use the PlantHive in a very controversial way! They completely neglected the slots and filled their container with soil ’till the top. They then planted various leafy greens and herbs in lines, such as basil, mint and lettuce, much like one would do in one’s garden. Our water/soil container was not initially intended to be used that way, but the results are amazing!…

2017 Highlights

2017 Highlights

We wish to dearly thank our followers, friends and family for their support so far in our adventure. Product development was our middle name this year! We went from a handcrafted laser-cut wooden prototype that was semi-functional to say the least, to our fully functional 3D printed alpha series in less than twelve months. We have to admit, printing our alpha series was quite the hustle, but it was worth our while! We were quite pleased with the results, and…

Testing the PlantHive Alphas

Testing the PlantHive Alphas

Last summer, we decided to launch our first PlantHive batch, dedicated exclusively to our Alpha testers. After roughly 100kg of printing filament and 500 hours of 3D printing, the first results came-in! While our Alpha testers started with soil, we decided to test the PlantHive’s hydroponic capabilities. Our smart garden has proven itself an excellent tool for very quick growth cycles of leafy greens and micro-greens. The leafy greens we tested were ready for consumption in less than 30 days…
